Match The Slope
Hitting a delicate pitch shot from a downhill lie isn’t easy. It’s a tough shot, especially if you don’t know how to address this scenario. To improve your odds, the key is to distribute your weight so that your knees and shoulders best match the slope of the ground. On a downslope, I have to put a large amount of weight on my forward leg to accomplish this. Then, when making a stroke, it’s imperative that you swing parallel to the ground. Don’t try and scoop or lift it, since that could lead to either fat or skulled shots. When in doubt, always swing along the ground for the best results.

Thats it for today. Please leave comments or email me gary21753@gmail.com

TALKING GOLF WITH GARY #001

Well here is my first blog. I don’t know about you but I am sick of winter. Living in NY we are stuck in 12* weather with snow on the ground, no getting to the links quite yet. Yet the people in the south and west are out and playing, good for them.
I am sorry to see 2008 go. It was a terrific year personally on the links. Not that my game improved all that much but I did get together with some guys at work and we have terrific a foursome. We had a ball and are all looking forward to 2009 season.
On the professional side of golf the PGA tour is once again rolling. It started last week in Hawaii with the mercedes championship , a limited field event. The event was won by Geoff Oglivy with Anthony Kim and Davis LoveIII tied for second. Still in Hawaii the first full field event occurs this weekend - the Sony Open. I’ll give a recap on that tournament next week.
Congrats to Annika Sorenstein and her new husband on their recent wedding.
Congrats to Lorena Ochoa and her beau on their engagement.
Tiger news: It has been reported on tigerwoods.com that Tiger is swinging long irons and driver but not at full speed as of yet.
Go Tiger!!
Sergio Garcia and Padraig Harrington are playing in the Euro tour event in Abu Dabi.
